Muv, Susan and I went to my birthplace, Macon, GA for my double-nickel birthday.  Of course, we had to stop at Stuckey’s on the way from Winterville…

I just love pecan logs

Our next stop was Nu-way hotdogs!  Yes, I am a vegetarian, and yes, they were delicious.  Susan was also fond of their grilled cheese.  We especially enjoyed the view from our window counter seats

we were glad the man finally made it across the parking lot...

It does not take much to make us happy!

my grandparents used to pack me 12 hotdogs for the ride back to Athens-they did not make it much past Gray

Then we went to see Nana and Papa’s house – it looked pretty good!

Then we put flowers on all of my grandparents’ graves!

Then we went to my old house

208 Tucker Road

My mom made lobster thermador when we lived here. It is across the street from Wesleyan College, so we had a lot of fun running all over the place until we moved to ATL when I was 8.  Papa used to take me fishing in the lake at Wesleyan.

And no birthday trip of memories is complete without a visit to Fresh Air BBQ in Jackson!  My sister, Ruth hates it.  Susan enjoyed the crackers…

they had put fresh sawdust down just for us!

this road was the road from Macon to Atlanta before 75 was built.

We had a great time driving on a rainy day through the backroads from Winterville to Macon and back!  Clearly, you can go home again!
